Picnic, a prepared foods carry out store and café, has been located in University City since 2001 and is committed to consistently providing delicious food and quality service to our customers. We are best able to do this by staying small and focused on our mission. Picnic is committed to supporting local sustainable family farms, as well as small locally owned businesses. We like to deliver approachable, freshly made food with a little flair.
There are many ways to experience Picnic: You can stop by the store for breakfast on the go, enjoy a quick, freshly made lunch in the café with a friend or pick up dinner to reheat at home. You can have Picnic, and staff, cater an event in your home, or we can drop off catering at your office. Or come by and pick out a vintage picnic basket, fill it with delicious food and head to the park.
Located on the ground floor of The Left Bank Apartment Building on the eastern edge of University City, Picnic is easily accessible from both Center City and West Philadelphia. Across the street from the Class of 1928 Ice Skating Rink, down the street from World Café Live and the Annenberg Center and around the corner from the Palestra and Franklin Field, Picnic is ideally located for a quick bite before the show or game or a hot chocolate break from the cold of the skating rink. With ample street parking and a loading zone in front of the store, picking up dinner on the way home is an easy affair.
All of our food is made on site by our dedicated and talented kitchen staff. We feature Metropolitan Bakery products and locally roasted La Colombe Coffee. In the shop, we also carry a selection of retail products made by American artisanal producers, as well as seasonal local produce and dairy products. And vintage picnic baskets, of course!
